A Little Bit Of Green Goes A Long Way...
It has been said that money doesn't buy happiness, but I would argue that the other green stuff, house plants and the like, go a long way to towards transforming your home into a nice little oasis.
I live in a cozy downtown condo, and while I enjoy the perks of the quintessential urban lifestyle, I do miss the earthiness of having a back and/or front yard. Happily I have become quite friendly with the kind folks at our neighbourhood plant shop, and both myself and my 5YO take great enjoyment in slowly filling our home with greenery.
Now I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, but through trial and error (and some very valid horticultural advice) we seem to have come upon some good fits for our birds nest of a home. Top of our list is the ever trendy Monstera plant; a good dousing in my son's bathtub every couple of weeks seems to keep this multi leaved beauty happy. We are also doing quite well with a traditional fern, as well as some aloe and snake plants. Our succulent collection seems to be sort of hit and miss... one second they're thriving, the next moment looking somewhat droopy... I'll admit I could be a little trigger happy when it comes to succulent spritizing!
