My New Favourite Resto: Mythology Diner
As a vegan with dietary allergies, I'm used to dining out being a stressful occasion, but with plant-based chef Doug McNish at the helm, I know I'm in good hands. Familiar with his dedication to organic whole foods, from visits to his Public Kitchen and stand at the Brickworks, I was excited to see how he would interpret comfort foods, particularly situated next door to Parkdale's #deepfriedeverything also vegan diner Doomies. Just as I had hoped, Mythology's menu is a healthy take on favourite feel good dishes, with the same commitment to top quality ingredients. Artisinal cocktails, kombucha on tap, gluten free options and delightful dishes for brunch, dinner and even late night service are a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Creamy Mac and Cheese, oyster mushroom "calamari", and The Bloomer, a whole onion turned into a blooming flower, seasoned and served with chipotle aioli kind of blew our minds, as did beer battered tempeh fish, and chips and cinnamon bun pancakes served with crispy "bacon" and a scoop of whipped cashew milk butter. Can't wait to go back and eat my way through the rest of the menu, stayed tuned for our next visit as I'll be bringing my mini-taster to get the lowdown on the best kid-friendly eats.
