Wind Down Rituals That Work
I'll admit it, as much as I try to log a solid 8 hours of zzz's, it's a rare occasion when that actually happens. I am working on trying to get better quality sleep, and I'm finding there are several techniques and sleepy time products that are helping me in my mission. I do love the bedtime app on my iphone that gently alerts me when it's time to go to sleep, and wakes me up with a much nicer alert than my initial alarm. About half an hour before I want to go to sleep I often make myself a soothing drink like a reishi hot chocolate, which is great for stress relief. I have a couple of nice pillow sprays (one from Graydon, and one from This Works) that I take turns using, as well as some lavender bath salts. I think the hardest but most important thing you can do to relax at the end of the day is to try to reduce stimulus. The endless scrolling is a serious time suck and keeps your mind spinning... calm music is a good alternative (Spotify has some great playlists), and sometimes I even treat myself to a foot massage with some of my essential oils.
